About DHI - Phase one

Delivering value for you

Scotland provides a rich platform for academic excellence, with nineteen Universities across the country, some of whom lead the way in informatics, life sciences and medicine. At DHI we harness the capabilities that exist in our country in order to deliver value for the academic, business and civic partners that work with us.

Developing smarter solutions

People are living longer, meaning there’s an increased demand for the treatment of age-related diseases. These demographic changes combined with poor lifestyle choices, poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking and alcohol consumption all contribute to poor health. These factors, along with rising costs and higher expectations of what our health and care services should deliver are creating a huge challenge for the NHS.

Our aim is to help address these modern health and care challenges in order to improve the delivery of health and care services for the people of Scotland. To do this we bring together people and organisations in the health and social care, charity, technology, design and academic sectors to develop new ideas for cutting-edge digital health technology and information services.

Set-up in October 2013 by our founding partners, we are part of Scotland’s network of Innovation Centres, funded by the Scottish Funding Council.

Scotland's Innovation Centres

DHI are proud to be one of Scotland’s first Innovation Centres. Launched to support transformational collaboration between universities and businesses, the primary aim of the Innovation Centre programme is to enhance innovation and entrepreneurship across Scotland’s key economic sectors, create jobs and grow the economy.
